Lisa’s Morning Routine for Weight Maintenance
I’d love to know if there’s anything in particular you do each morning as part of your weight-maintenance routine. I want to get each day off to a healthy start, and I want to know your secrets to success!
Early Birdie
No secrets here -- I’m happy to share! Mornings can make or break my whole day, so I’m very intentional about how I start them. Here’s a breakdown of my basic morning routine. Try it out, and see what works for you!
Move
Physical activity is a morning must for me. I keep it simple -- I typically stick with walking! I’ll go for a walk around the neighborhood with my niece Lauren, or I’ll Housewalk by myself or hop on the treadmill. I usually do this for 30 minutes or so. It helps wake me up and gets me energized for the day. If I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll jump on my Peloton bike for a spin class!Plan
Before I even eat breakfast, I think about the day ahead. Am I eating lunch at the office? Am I going out for dinner? If I’m going to be eating a meal or two out, I’ll start to plan what I’ll eat (and maybe do a little menu research online). And if it looks like I might be indulging a little at dinner, I’ll plan to eat lighter during the day.Pack
Part of planning is making sure I have healthy snacks and lunch options for the office. Favorite snack choices: apples, oranges, soup, hard-boiled eggs, turkey slices, and pickles! When it comes to lunch, I like to keep a variety of lean proteins, veggies, and light dressings/sauces at Hungryland… This way, I can easily throw something together between meetings. (If I didn’t have a kitchen at work, I’d assemble it before I left the house.)There you have it… Good luck!
