The makers of some of
our favorite light ice cream turned to seven U.S. states for inspiration, and the results are delicious! We tried and loved our home state's
California Caramel Almond Crunch, but the
Washington Apple Pie variety really won us over. It's cinnamon ice cream with pieces of pie! Also check out the Maine Blueberries & Cream, Mississippi Mud Pie, Oregon Black Cherry, Texas Pecan Pie, and Vermont Maple Syrup flavors. Use the store finder on the
Dreyer's/
Edy's site to track 'em down...

Need guacamole STAT? Can't be trusted around a multi-serving tub? This is a super-smart shortcut to DIY guac!
The mix consists of freeze-dried red onions, cilantro, and garlic with lemon peel, tomato, red chili, and cumin. Just stir it into mashed avocado, and add a squeeze of lime juice. We tried it at Hungryland, and it ROCKS. (HG tip: Add a little fat-free Greek yogurt to boost the portion size!) In supermarkets nationwide.

This Week's 3 Things You Need to Know...
Alert! Facebook just made it harder to see content you love (including HG exclusives!), but here's how to fix that...
Are you seeing fewer and fewer Hungry Girl posts in your news feed? That's because a recent Facebook change is further limiting the reach of brand pages like ours. (It's an effort to make sure people don't miss posts from friends and family.) But there's a way to ensure you don't miss a single thing from HG... including food news, recipes, giveaways, and MORE content that's not always featured in the daily emails! Here's how… On your computer, visit
the Hungry Girl Facebook page, and hover over the Liked button (click Like first, if you haven't); select "See First" instead of Default, and you're all set! To do this on your phone instead, just visit
the HG page, and click the Following button (click Like first, if you haven't); then select "See First." Do it NOW, and
tell ALL your friends so they don't miss out!
Scientists have figured out a way to zap the fat out of chocolate.
Get this: By applying an electric field to liquid chocolate,
scientists report they can reduce the fat content by as much as 20 percent! This is HUGE. Mars Chocolate funded the experiment, so we fully expect to see reduced-fat Snickers in the near future. But it does beg the question... Would YOU eat chocolate that had been electrified?
CVS is making it easier to resist junk-food impulse purchases.
You do well when roaming the aisles, but once you're stuck standing in line at the register, you can't help but grab a candy bar or bag of chips. It's common, and stores know it! That's why we're so happy that CVS is
scaling back the junk food at checkout, clearing 25 percent of the space for healthier snack options, like Kind Bars and Larabars. Good looking out, CVS!
