The struggle is real: Study finds it was easier to be skinny in the '70s & '80s.

In news that might make you want to flip a table, we recently stumbled upon a study that found that people who eat and exercise the same amounts as those in the '70s & '80s have higher BMIs. That's right. It's not a "portions are larger now" thing or a "too much Netflix; too little exercise" thing. We literally have to eat less/exercise more these days. Possible reasons? Medication, pollution, stress, and nighttime light exposure. So the next time your elders claim they had it harder in their day, alert them to these study findings. (Or maybe just nod respectfully!)

Hour-long walks could seriously improve brain function.

We're big proponents of walking for exercise, but here's a whole other rationale. A new study found that after walking in one-hour sessions three times per week for 6 months, the brains of older volunteers with vascular cognitive impairment began working differently, allowing them to focus and make quick decisions more easily. (Additionally, they showed lower blood pressure.) Walk it off, people!
