7 Healthy Snacks with 70 Calories or Less

Feb 19 2016
Snack time is important -- you don't wanna be hungry between meals, but you also don't want to throw off your daily calories. With that in mind, here are seven snacks with 70 calories or less, plus suggested add-ons like fruits, veggies, and other upgrades that contribute no points at all!

Mini Babybel Light

1 piece: 50 calories, 3g total fat (2g sat. fat), 160mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, 6g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

No introduction needed. You know it; you love it. These creamy cheese wheels have been a part of our lives forever, and we never get tired of them. (And at 50 calories a pop, why would we?)

Upgrade: Make fruit 'n cheese skewers! These cheese wheels taste great with strawberries, watermelon, apples... You name it! Cut a Mini Babybel Light into 4 pieces, and alternately slide onto a skewer with 5 pieces of cut fruit. Because food on a stick is fun and delicious.

Hard-Boiled Egg Whites

3 large eggs' worth: 51 calories, <0.5g total fat (0g sat. fat), 164mg sodium, 0.5g carbs, 0g fiber, 0.5g sugars, 10.5g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

This is such a great way to get a low-calorie protein fix, and there are endless ways to fill those egg-white halves. They make perfect topping holders! Click here for hard-boiling tips 'n tricks.

Upgrade: Take a tablespoon of mustard (yellow or Dijon), salsa (regular or black bean & corn), or Best Foods/Hellmann's Dijonnaise, and evenly distribute it among your egg-white halves.

StarKist Hot Buffalo Style Tuna Creations

1 pouch: 70 calories, 0.5g total fat (0.5g sat. fat), 620mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, 15g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

Our super fandom for StarKist continues. This pouched tuna is a total winner. No draining or seasoning needed -- just tear it open, and grab a fork.

Upgrade: Dice up some carrots and celery, and mix 'em in for a bigger serving with added crunch. Hold the hot wings! You can also spoon the tuna into bell pepper "scoops" -- red, yellow, or orange peppers are best for this.

Pacific Organic Soup Starters Tortilla Soup Base

1/2 cup: 15 calories, 0g total fat (0g sat. fat), 290mg sodium, 3g carbs, 0g fiber, 1g sugars, 0g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

We're big fans of the soup-as-a-snack thing. Most people don't think of it, but it's really satisfying... especially when extra veggies are mixed in (which we're getting to)! We don't know why the official serving size of this vegan broth is just 1/2 cup, but you can have an entire cup for a mere 30 calories! BTW, feel free to use any fat-free broth with similar stats.

Upgrade: In a medium pot sprayed with nonstick spray, cook some chopped onion and bell pepper (or your veggies of choice) until softened and browned. Add the broth, heat, and eat!

Annie Chun's Roasted Seaweed Snacks

10 sheets: 25 - 30 calories, 1.5 - 2g total fat (0g sat. fat), 50 - 70mg sodium, 1 - 2g carbs, 0 - 1g fiber, 0g sugars, 1g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

There are a ton of seaweed snacks out there, but we especially love AC's flavors. Sesame, Wasabi, Cracked Pepper & Herbs… and the sleeper hit, Brown Sugar & Sea Salt. Yes, really -- don't knock it 'til you try it! Much smarter than packaged kale chips, which are a total food faker with too many calories. (They're often fried in oil.)

Upgrade: Pair your little seaweed sheets with a pile of baby carrots. Baby carrots go with everything.

Jennie-O All Natural Turkey Breast Sticks

2 sticks: 50 calories, 1g total fat (0g sat. fat), 170 - 270mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, 10g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

That's right, you get TWO sticks for 50 calories! This is like jerky's fridge-fresh cousin, and it's delicious. Bonus? The flavors: Oven Roasted, Smoke House, Sweet BBQ, and Cracked Pepper. Yaaaaasssss...

Upgrade: Time for a snack salad! Chop up a couple sticks, and toss with chopped romaine and cherry or grape tomatoes. Add your vinegar of choice -- we're partial to balsamic -- and devour.

Arctic Zero Creamy Pints

1/2 cup: 35 calories, 0g total fat (0g sat. fat), 80 - 135mg sodium, 7g carbs, 2g fiber, 5g sugars, 3g protein -- SmartPoints® value 1*

Need an ice cream fix? Look no further. This frozen treat is delicious and insanely low in calories... It'll squash your dessert cravings in no time. It comes in a ton of flavors, but the Chunky varieties have higher calorie counts, so check the packaging carefully.

Upgrade: Berries; you can't go wrong. Just top your scoop with a handful of fresh (or thawed from frozen; no sugar added) blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and/or sliced strawberries. Vanilla Maple with strawberries? Yes, please...
