As Chewed on TV... The BBQ fun has just begun!
Fruit - There's just something spectacular about sweet fruit caramelizing on the grill. Pick up fresh fruit like pineapple and even peaches. Canned pineapple rings packed in juice work great too! Sweet Dip Essentials - Looking for something to go with that fruit? Make creamy dips like my So-Good Cinnamon-Vanilla Yogurt Dip with just some fat-free plain Greek yogurt like Fage Total 0%, granulated Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (a little sugar would work too; just know it'll add a few extra calories), cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Dogs & Burgers - When it comes to meat, be sure to read the labels carefully. Look for fat-free or mostly fat-free franks with 50 calories or less each. (Then enjoy a couple!) My picks are Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks and Hoffy Extra Lean Beef Franks. For burgers, I prefer them meatless with 70 - 100 calories per patty. Boca Original Vegan Meatless Burgers ROCK. Bread - Forget about big puffy rolls -- some have as many as 300 calories! A lettuce "bun" is the most guilt-free pick, but sometimes I'm craving carbs. That's when I pick up some high-fiber light buns (like the kind in the Sara Lee Delightful line) or those trendy 100-calorie flat buns like Arnold Select/Oroweat Sandwich Thins. I've even been known to wrap my dogs in low-fat, high-fiber tortillas -- click for my favorite... Store-Bought Coleslaw (Guilt-Free Trick!) - Want to make your life easy and totally guilt-free? Just take some beautiful, prepared coleslaw from the deli and rinse in a colander until the water runs clear. You've just fat-slashed your coleslaw! Crazy About Condiments? - Stock up on BBQ sauce with about 45 calories per 2-tbsp. serving. Best Foods/Hellmann's Dijonnaise is my go-to mayo swap with just 5 calories per teaspoon and no fat. Salsa tastes great on chicken and burgers, and it even works as a salad dressing swap. And don't forget the pickles!
Hungry for More? It's a nonstop grill-a-rama below! Chicken D'lish Kebabs, Grillin' of the Corn, and Girl on Grill Veggie Wraps - These kebabs feature a secret marinade, the corn cobs have an Asian-inspired twist, and the wraps are SO good!
