Frozen Ground-Beef-Style Soy Crumbles - These meaty things are the PERFECT swap for fatty ground beef. Plus, they're convenient. Look for Boca Meatless Ground Crumbles or Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles. Both are great!
Portion-Controlled Ice Cream - When it comes to cartons, I go for Dreyer's/Edy's Slow Churned Light Ice Cream -- it tastes amazing, yet it has a fraction of the fat and calories in full-fat ice cream. But single-serving treats are a must if -- like me -- you can easily inhale several servings in one sitting. I like individual light ice cream cups, bars, and sandwiches by Skinny Cow, Weight Watchers, and Breyers. Better Off Bread! - Read labels carefully. A serving size can be anywhere from one to three slices. Look for light bread with 40 - 45 calories and at least 2g fiber per slice. My favorite is Sara Lee 45 Calories & Delightful Bread. I also really like those 100-calorie flat sandwich buns, like Arnold Select/Oroweat Sandwich Thins. And high-fiber tortillas are an amazing bread swap -- look for large ones with about 100 calories... Click here for the full 411 on my 80-calorie favorite! Blue Diamond Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze - This may be the best find EVER. It has less than HALF the calories of skim milk and WAY more flavor. I use it in smoothies, in oatmeal, in my cereal bowl, and in recipes. Find the shelf-stable version with boxed milk swaps, and look for the refrigerated version with soymilks. But make sure to get the unsweetened kind -- that's the one with the super-low calorie count. Click here for all the info! Hungry for More? MORE amazing swaps for fatty favorites... Toffee Mocha Hotté - Coffee-shop swaps are an HG staple. Here's a no-guilt version of a decadent Starbucks beverage. It rocks so much! |
